Former security chief Zhou Yongkang has been sentenced to life in prison on a bribery charge, with another seven years for abuse of power and four more for leaking state secrets, South China Morning Post reported, citing state media. State television showed pictures of Zhou – his hair turned white after having been deprived of Chinese officialdom’s go-to black dye – confessing and telling the court he would not appeal the ruling. Authorities first announced Zhou was under investigation in July of 2014, and dozens of officials with connections to Zhou have been arrested since President Xi Jinping assumed office in 2013.
