Foxconn Technology Group (2354.TPE), the Taipei-based maker of Apple (AAPL.NASDAQ)’s iPhone and iPad, plans to invest in Pennsylvania, Bloomberg reported, citing Taiwanese media. Foxconn’s flagship company Hon Hai Precision Industry (2317.TPE) intends to invest in a machine-tool automation manufacturing plant and research and development facility for robotics, an unidentified source with Taiwan’s economic office in the US told Taiwan’s Central News Agency. As the maker of some of America’s most popular consumer electronic devices, the company, which has sprawling manufacturing operations in China, has become a symbol of US outsourcing.
