America's National Basketball Association (NBA) will set up a subsidiary in China to manage its interests in the country, AFP reported. NBA China will be led by Tim Chen, currently Microsoft's top executive in China and a former head of Motorola's operations in the country, who will start work in October. China represents a huge basketball fan base, with 83% of 15- to 24-year-olds professing to be NBA followers, much of the support tied to Chinese superstar Yao Ming. The NBA has partnerships with 51 television stations in China and works with 20 leading global brands. There are plans to stage 170 NBA events in the country, including three pre-season games in October.
